Aaron Judge Takes Lead in Home Run Race.

Two weeks into baseball and the race is on. Orioles left-fielder Tyler O'Neill hit the first and his only (so far) home run of the season on March 27th adding to his MLB record of six consecutive Opening Day home runs. New York Yankees Captain Aaron Judge, who hit 58 home runs last year including his 300th career home run, currently leads at 6. Meanwhile, Cubs right-fielder Kyle Tucker, Angels catcher Logan O'hoppe, Dodgers second-baseman Tommy Edman and Diamondbacks third-baseman Eugenio Suárez all trail with 5.

There are nine players with 4 home runs and twenty-six players in the game at 3 including Dodgers Superstar Shohei Ohtani.

It's been an impressive start to the season.  Aaron Judge is on pace to hit an absurd 139 home runs so far, a number that will certainly decline but Judge only needs to crack 50 to tie Mark Mcguire, Sammy Sosa, and Babe Ruth's record of most seasons with 50 home runs or more (four).

Another person everybody needs to be keeping their eye on is Eugenio Suárez who led the race with 5 home runs until Judge hit his 5th and 6th against the Diamond Backs and The Pirates. Suárez made his MLB debut in 2014 for the Detroit Tigers and previously played for Cincinatti Reds and the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners traded Suárez to the Diamondbacks in 2023 for reliever Carlos Vargas and Catcher Seby Zavala. He hit 30 home runs last year with a batting average of .256 with 90 runs scored and 101 runs batted in. He has 276 career home runs which means this could be the year he makes it to the 300 club.

It is too early to tell who will end the season with the most homers, but it seems like we are looking at a record-breaking season and Aaron Judge is making an early push to claim his spot in the top once again.
