New York Yankees third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera left in the ninth inning of Monday night's 11-5 win over the Seattle Mariners via ambulance after suffering an ankle injury while scoring off a sacrifice fly from Yankees captain Aaron Judge.
Cabrera seemed to be in perfect scoring position, but as he started to slide his ankle rolled and he was down. Oswaldo remained on the ground for some time while medical staff tended to him before being placed on a stretcher and taken off the field in an ambulance.
Right fielder Aaron Judge told YES Network that Cabrera called him over right before he was carted off and asked him if he had scored. The run did stand on the play.
The Yankees manager Aaron Boon confirmed Cabrera was taken to a hospital following the game and Cabrera was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday morning with a left ankle fracture. Cabrera will likely miss a large portion, if not all of the 2025 season.
