Less than a year after being released from the Yankees, infielder DJ LeMahieu has been hired as the Manager of the Royal Oak Leprechauns, a Northwoods Summer Collegiate Baseball team in southeast Michigan.

The Former All-Star previously donated over $500,000 to the same organization for ballpark renovations in the early 2020's .

LeMahieu moved to Michigan when he was a teenager, where he played as a shortstop and pitcher for Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Township.

The 4X Gold Glove winner was designated for assignment by the Yankees on July 9th, 2025, and released the next day. He batted .266 with a .674 OPS in 45 games in 2025

Leprechauns General Manager Danny Weiss stated that LeMahieu has been "hands-on" with the team the entire offseason and praised his commitment to creating a "culture players want to be a part of".

Representatives for the team have stated that DJ plans to continue pursuing a career in professional baseball but at 37 years old it is unclear whether that means playing or coaching.
